Chase Tyler Davis

Here he is!! Chase made his debut on March 9, 2008 at 12:52 am. He weighs 7lbs 8 oz and is 19 in. long. Labor and delivery were very fast! I started contracting at about 8:30, water broke around 10:15, and got to the hospital at 11:06. We weren't even there for two hours and then all it took was maybe 6 pushes. Child birth is such a strange and amazing experience, words cannot begin to describe it!

Brody was able to come into the room with Jared and I right after I delivered so it was just the four of us for a while. He came in and got teary eyed looking at Chase and then asked, first thing, if he could give him hugs and kisses. Brody is seriously such a sweet boy! Whenever he sees him for the first time in the morning or waking up from a nap, he cannot wait to touch him, hold him, and kiss him. When Chase cries, Brody runs over and says, "I will make him feel better" and then kisses him! I have the best family!

Chase sleeps non-stop (for now, I'm sure). I think I've only seen him awake for maybe 6 hours since he's been born! He is very mellow and puts up with Brody's noise very well! We are so blessed to have two beautiful, healthy boys!

I will post more when I have some more time!!

California

We drove to Laguna Beach and Sea World for our last vacation as a family of 3. It was so much fun! We left on Friday morning and came back Saturday night, so it was very quick but very worth it. Everything is so much better through the eyes of a 2 year old! Jared and I both re-discovered the beach and the wonders of Sea World. However, I don't know if I recommend walking around for 6 hours straight while being 8 months pregnant! Oh well, I wouldn't have traded it for anything.

Thank goodness for technology! This was on our way to Laguna. He was so excited to have his own little tv!

We saw the flamingos when we first entered Sea World. Brody was so amazed! I couldn't believe how close he got to them!

Here we are feeding the dolphins. I think this was Brody's favorite part, getting to throw fish in the dolphins' mouths!

Yes, we caved and paid $20 for 3 pictures! But we thought they were very worth it!

Forget the stroller! Brody had Dad to ride on! He was such a trooper, either on shoulders or trucking it on his own the entire day.

Brody wasn't too sure of the Shark Habitat. When he gets nervous or scared, he puts his finger in his mouth, so this is what he looked like while walking through the sharks.

I love this picture because it looks like we are touching Shamu!

The Tide Pool is one of my favorites. I love that you can get in there and actually touch the starfish. I was so excited that Brody was as into it as I was!

He was so soft and gentle with them. We watched other kids just chuck the starfish back in the water!

MONSTER TRUCKS!!

We took Brody to see Monster Trucks a few weekends ago. He was sooo excited!! Jared and him got to ride in Sergeant Smash before the show started. It took all that I had to let them do it! We had to sign a waiver and the wheels came up off the ground when it turned!!!!!!! I almost cried! Brody totally loved it and can't wait to see them again.

This is the one they rode in. I didn't breathe for the two laps they drove around the track!!

How long have you been married? 6 years in March. I can't believe it!!

How long did you date? Umm...17 months in high school and then 2 years before we were married.

Who eats more? Probably him right now, I can't fit as much as usual!

Who said I love you first? I have no idea, it's been too long!

Who is smarter? Jared, definitely. He remembers everything, he's like a sponge.

Whose temper is worse? Mine, he knows when I'm mad!

Who does the laundry? Me, unless I haven't done it for awhile and Jared needs clothes, then he'll do it! (I'm glad I'm not the only one, Laura!)

Who does the dishes? Me...he'll do it if I ask him.

Who cooks dinner? Both of us, depending on the night. Jared has really picked up the slack while I have been pregnant, he's the best!

Who drives when you are together? Jared

Who is more stubborn? We are both very stubborn. I would say he is, he would say I am!

Whose parents do you see the most? My mom, since she watches Brody everyday.

Who proposed? There wasn't really a proposal. We went ring shopping and it just kind of happened.

Who has more friends? Locally, Jared. Mine mostly live out of town, it's sad!

Who has more siblings? Me, one brother and 2 sisters

Who wears the pants in the family? Unfortunately, the pants have been put on me and I hate them!!

Growing Up!

Brody's big Christmas present was a new, big boy bed! So many of the days leading up to and following Christmas were spent building the bed, painting and moving into his new room. Brody got to pick out his new sheets and fabric for his new blanket!

I was so nervous about the switch because he has always gone to bed so well, so I was thinking that this would be a huge disruption. To our surprise and relief, Brody transitioned perfectly! He was sooo excited to sleep in his new, big boy bed! I think he slept in until 10am the first morning he slept in it!!

The only major mishap was that we bought a railing for it but I didn't like the way it looked and it took up a lot of the bed. So I took it off. That is, until 4am one morning when I woke to Brody screaming "MOMMY!!" I rushed into his room and there he was, laying on the floor, flat on his stomach, spread eagle and crying. Poor little guy rolled right out of his new, great bed!! Needless to say, the railing went back on!

Christmas Morning

Christmas morning was soooo much fun!

The only thing Brody asked for was a monster truck and a dirt bike. So, luckily, Santa came through! Too bad Jared and I didn't just get him those two things, we actually had to keep talking him into opening the rest of his presents!

Brody was very clean about the wrapping paper. He would tear off a little piece and then hand it to Jared or me! If only he were this neat and concerned with all of the other messes that he comes up with!

Yes, it a camera. I know, he's only 2, but Brody loves taking pictures!!

Stocking surprises! I made all of these stockings, one of the worst decisions of my life! They are super cute, but such a time consuming, painful event for my fingers! I feel so bad for saying it, but I'm really dreading having to make another one for our new guy!

The Magical Forest

Every year, our family goes to the Magical Forest at Opportunity Village. Jared and I were really excited to go this year because we knew Brody would love it! It turned out to be so much fun. We went with my cousins Jessica (her husband and kids), Jenelle, and my Aunt Diane.

Brody could not give this reindeer enough lovin'! He has the biggest, most loving heart!!!

I thought Brody would be really into the train ride, but he said it was "Too loud!" Still, we rode it two times, even if it was more for Jared and I than Brody!

So, everytime I take a picture, I get the "cheeseball" face! It is such a wonderful expression that Jared taught Brody. I have to specifically ask him for a "nice smile" when I want a normal smile!

Brody's favorite part of the night was getting to go inside a real ambulance and police car! He couldn't even focus on anything else until we got that out of the way!

Brody's 2nd Birthday Party!!

Brody's birthday party was on October 14th. We had it at the park and it was such a perfect day!!

Brody was in total heaven when opening his presents! I think 95% of them were Tonka trucks and anything with wheels!!

He obviously didn't need my help when it came to the cupcakes! I can't believe how big he is getting!

The pinata was Brody's favorite part of the day!! He took some pretty good swings at that thing!! I think he may have a future in baseball!

We had to chase Brody down to get this picture at the end of his party, so he wasn't too happy with us!

November, 2008 - Brody wants Christmas to be here soo bad! When he asks me when it will be here, I tell him that we have Thanksgiving first, and then it will be Christmas time. A few days later he comes up to me and asks, "Mom, when do we thanksgive?"
July 29, 2008 - When we were out to dinner at Applebee's, Brody was feeding Jared his apple slices. Jared had a mouthfull and couldn't eat anymore, so he was keeping his mouth shut. Brody insisted on forcing them into his mouth anyway and when Jared wouldn't open up anymore, Brody says "Stop jackin' around Dad!" I could not believe it!! We really need to watch what we say around him!
June 20, 2008 - Brody is totally potty trained now, but I still am in the habit of asking him every 30 minutes if he has to go. When I asked, he says yes and then Jared volunteers to take him. This must have made Brody very happy because his response was "Let's do it bro!" Brody really is very intelligent, even if his sometimes surfer-like vocabulary makes it sound otherwise!!!
June 20, 2008 - Chase was relaxing in his swing and Brody was playing with some toys, each doing their own thing. I was in the kitchen and hear Brody say "Chasers...what up dude?"
June 19, 2008 - While sitting in the McDonald's drive thru, waiting in a forever-long line, Brody asks, "Are you going to open the window, or what?"
May 23, 2008 - I was driving home with the boys in the back seat. I hear Brody counting, but instead of counting in order, he is all over the place....1,10,7,25,63. I ask him, "What kind of counting is that?" Brody explains "I'm counting in Spanish Mommy!" Oh, of course, how could I have not known that!
April 15, 2008 - Jared and I are always telling Brody how smart he is. So now, when Brody asks us about something and we give him an answer, he tells us, "You're so smart!" Nice to know our child thinks we are intelligent also!
March 15, 2008 - The four of us went to breakfast at the Original Pancake House after the Boulder City Easter Egg Hunt. I ordered Brody an orange juice because that is what he wanted. The waitress tells me that it is fresh squeezed and has a lot of pulp in it. I think to myself that it couldn't be that much pulp and tell her that he will be fine. As we are eating, Brody takes a drink of his orange juice and pulls it away with a look of disgust on his face! He hands it to me and says, "It has fuzz in it!" I guess the pulp was a bit too much for him! So, as my punishment for not listening to the waitress, I spend the rest of breakfast drinking from a plastic kiddie cup while having to help Brody every time he wants a drink because I had to hand over my large glass of apple juice.
Jared got home from a hard day of work and was laying on the floor with his eyes closed. Brody walked over to him to see what he was doing. He then pats Jared on top of the head, leans in and asks, "You tired little Buddy?"
Jared and I are no longer Dad and Mom to Brody. He now refers to us as Buddy and Babe when talking to us!
I was flipping through the tv channels and stopped on the Christina Aguilara concert. Brody loves music and started watching it with me. He always comments on girls' hair and says, "She have nice hair, Mommy." I agree with him and say, "Yes, she is very pretty and such a good singer." He continues watching it, very intently, and then comes to the realization, "She have nice boobs too!" I could not believe this! I'm going to have my hands full with this one!
February 7, 2008 - I was getting ready for a doctors appointment and changing my clothes when Brody looks at me, points and asks, "Is that my brother in there?" He is so ready for his baby brother to be here!
Brody is constantly giving my prego belly hugs and kisses because to him, he is giving Chase hugs and kisses when he does this. Jared and I always ask him if he loves his brother and he always says yes. On this day, Brody walked over to my belly, hugged and kissed it and then said, "I love you Chase." Brody melts my heart every day!
I was sitting on the couch, rubbing lotion on my enormous, pregnant, itchy belly when Brody came over and wanted to help. I gave him some lotion to put on my belly. When he was finished, he says "There you go Chase." He is such a caretaker! I love him so much!
December 23, 2007 - I was sitting on the floor with Brody and said "Ouch." Brody is always very concerned when anyone is hurt or in pain so he asked "Are you ok Mommy?" I told him that I was fine. A few moments later, after Brody was thinking for a while, he announces to me "I want to be a doctor, make people feel better!" I could not believe that he had put the two together! What kind of 2 year old has aspirations to be a doctor?! Brody is such a caring and sweet boy, we are so blessed!!!
